The Hardest Wall of Language Learning

Language Learning Expectations

Don't expect fluency in just a few months; life's complexities will impact your learning process.
You are not going to learn Spanish in three months, let alone one. No "3-month Challenge" is going to achieve that. You are a complex human with a complex life with lots of responsibilities. You might have school, a job, or even kids. These things are going to interfere at the beginning with your language journey while you try to integrate them into your daily routine.

Prioritize Spanish, but don't neglect your main responsibilities.
Unless learning Spanish is your main goal, Spanish is going to be at a secondary position of priority. And, it should always be that way. Just don't leave it to the 8th position and you will be fine.

Language Learning Expectations

Embrace the fact that you'll struggle at first, but you'll improve faster than you think.
Learning a language is a skill; treat it like one. So, you will SUCK at the beginning. Yes, any 2-year-old will speak better than you at this stage. Face it and accept it. There is nothing wrong with this. Just realize that you can improve faster than a 2-year-old. You understand complex concepts faster and already have a L1 (Language 1) in place. Building a L2 over the L1 is faster and L3 over L2 even faster.

Language Learning Expectations

Commit to more than just 15 minutes a day, but remember that the quality of your practice matters.
This will take more than 15 minutes per day. But don't worry, if you are doing 30 minutes per day you are doing more than 90% of language learners. Be conscious that 30 min of TV is not the same as 30 min of music while driving or 30 min of grammar drills. How you spend your time matters, and it matters more at the beginning. Think this way: you better spend 30 minutes trying to ride a bicycle and falling than watching 30 minutes of a Youtube video of "How to Ride a Bicycle Step-by-Step".

Choose the right resources, starting with beginner-friendly materials that suit your level.
Use resources... the best and most comprehensible resources first. The last thing you need at the beginning of a Language Journey is to use the wrong materials, with wrong information, complex examples, and overall not suitable for your level. This is why video games have a Tutorial Part and also why you are faced with super lower-level enemies; if they placed you with hard bosses first you would quit immediately.

Language Learning Expectations

Focus on a few resources at a time, finishing them before moving on to others to avoid overwhelm.
Level up your language. Start with materials that are meant to be used by students at your level. Yes, I mean beginners...or null beginners. After you understand these super simple materials then you are ready for the next batch of resources.

Find professional help as soon as you start.
Step into the gym, and you're greeted by a dazzling array of machines and workout options—it's enough to make your head spin! Fear not, though: the secret to success is seeking help, orientation, and guidance. Language learning is no different. Don't fall into the trap of wasting time with trial and error; instead, embrace the power of expert advice to streamline your journey and make every moment count!

Remember, language learning is a marathon, not a sprint. Be patient, consistent, and enjoy the ride!
Do NOT jump between resources. Stick to as few as possible, finish them, and then use other resources. Buying books and books will not magically make you fluent. Buy one book, finish it and buy another one. Having too many resources will only clutter your mind and your pace: trying to use your 20 books in one day to justify their purchase is going to diminish your will to study every day.
